ACT Manifolds

Has anybody fitted these from ACT?


I just wondered if they were really worth the money (they're not cheap....but they do look good). According to ACT, they increase bhp a little and torque by 15-20 lb ft. Obviously sound is also important.

I've currently got an ACT decat pipe and was thinking about getting the replacement s/s headers but when you add it up, it seems to make sense to buy the tuned manifolds instead. Only downside is MOT's........(although you can buys Cats for them......more money )

I have them, fantastic bits of kit - Awesome sound when combined with the cherry bomb exhaust they do; sounds like you've added another litre to your engine They do add a little power I'm told but I've not verified it as I did a few other mods at the same time.

If at any point you're going to think about getting a supercharger by the way, these manifolds are not compatible as they run higher up than standard. Tim does do a custom supercharger friendly nearside manifold though if you would like for the same sort of price IIRC. I have one on my car (had the originals and then worked with Tim to develop the supercharger one) and it fits beautifully and looks the nuts. For mots you'll either need the cats or a friendly mot tester

Yep, I have them on my car. As Nick said, they improve the sound of the car and do give a performance increase. As I have a few other mods I can't say by how much. Tim from ACT can enlighten you as the exacts. They make replacing gaskets much easier as you can take one side off each time.

My car was used as the development mule for these manifolds. IF you look on PH TV there is a video of my car with them on and the prototype ACT Cherry Bomb system.

Being a Pre-Cat I have no issues with MOTs and Cats.

I have them on my car, and I'm not convinced there is any real power increase over decatted standard pipes. They do, however, look considerably better and sound good!

My TVR managed to pass the last 2 MOTs without cats, even though it's a 1996 500.

I have them matched with ACT cherry bomb mufflers, they sound thunderous.

AND

You get little 'tink' noises as the manifolds cool down in the garage.
