we bought a 2007 elise 111r in the uk last year and my wife was driving the car since, a few months after we had it she has problems with cold start. the car is not taking the gas properly and sometimes even dies when cold. The german dealer is helpless and i wonder if either the water sensor or air temp sensor is not working right so the start fueling is not working.
any help would be much appreciated

My 111R takes about 30seconds to run smooth on a 'cold start' morning (i just let it idle for a while - if it doesn't get that its just a little eratic but never dies on me

the thing is that the care did nothave this even in the coldest winter when we bought it, so I assume something is not right.

Are you letting the fuel pump prime? I.e. turn the key and you hear a high pitched noise coming from behind that lasts about 3 seconds.

If I don't let this sound finish before turning the ignition then it really doesn't like it and struggles to start, takes several full cranks.

I've noticed this with mine too. Also, I've noticed that sometimes it doesn't "prime" at all - usually after you've unlocked it and then let the immobiliser light come back on.

Other than this, mine hasn't missed a beat once, so can only assume something is amiss.

Hope this helps

Could be the ECU software, there were some problems with the fly by wire throttle at low revs, which took a few releases of software to iron out. Mine has been changed pretty much every time the car has been in for a service. Ask your dealer to check if you have the latest
