Forget the link its just an example and I am NOT commenting about the girl herself.

BUT why are they now called Sex Workers and not Prostitutes? Same thing or am I missing something?

Is it some new PC directive? Or like a transparent wall cleanser or whatever they now call window cleaners.

Well this story has Rod Stewart driving his baby blue Ferrari Gallardo, so maybe accuracy is not their strong point (I expect the'll correct that one at some point) wink

Simple. The term 'worker' implies 'employed.' This helps to improve unemployment figures.

The title appears to be more accurate?

"Sex-change graduate working as a prostitute strangled before killer set fire to her flat"

I've not met many women who don't charge for sex... Though instead of cash, most of the hookers I've met will accept cinema tickets, meals, drinks at night clubs, holidays and clothes.

Conveniently you can meet these hookers in the workplace and also in every bar in town.

The really bad thing is they often rip you off - i.e. take the money and give little or nothing in return.

IMHO I can't see any difference, so I've given up on these hookers (many of which are actually in complete denial that they are actually hookers - unbelieveable I know), and just go for the hookers who accept cash.

You forgot to mention that some will accept Houses in payment (though this is usually after the wedding ring and a few years)..

Completely missed out jewelry in general!!!

Regarding the house bit, it's rude to call it 'payment' for sexual services. Instead, there are special 'code words' that mean the same thing - like 'security', 'love', 'family' etc.

Usually the male - high on the drug testosterone - will go along with all this under some kind of short term haze, and vague promises of "free sex whenever you want it"

I gather "sex worker" also covers people who work in seedier industries who aren't prostitutes such as strippers, dominatrices (what the hell is the plural of that) and phonesex operators
