Have discovered that my 993RS has non-OE front splitter. When I bought 6 months ago PPI was done by quite well known specialist, I asked him specifically in writing to check for anything non-original.

The difference is obvious as OE has slats over holes under either side, mine does not - furthermore this specialist owns a 993RS!!

1) Do I have any comeback on this?
2) Does it effect value of car?

Thanks!
Piers

Curiously there was a very similar thread to this with pictures on the rennlist forum a month or so ago

surely if the car was a private purchase the previous seller should have mentioned something if he knew?

The splitter doesn't look very different from standard, so it would be very difficult for someone other than a REAL 993 RS expert to notice. Please say you didn't have a PPI from the AA ?

It may affect the value very slightly to someone looking for a collectors car not to be driven, but no more than say having rear seats fitted

You can buy the OE front splitter if necessary. It is three piece IIRC, so presumably just the two outer bits. Not a bargain from Porsche, but the non-OE one will be worth half list price to a C2 owner in good condition, so trade up won't be too bad.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it, as if it gets whacked on a speed hump you will be glad it's a cheaper part. Collectors may give a toss, but if they mention it say you'll get an OE one fitted as part of the deal.

Re comeback, well, it's a subtle thing to miss. Surprised they missed the much-copied bodykit parts tho'. Mention it, but not worth suing for, if you ask me. Just one of those things. Northway did a post-purchase inspection on one of my Porsches once and missed something - but they found 8 or 9 things I didn't know about, so I was perfectly happy overall

PPI was not done by AA! Surely rear seats being so rare increase the value.

Thanks guys, I'll mention it to them, maybe they'll offer a free oil change!
