HID Headlight survey

So soon clocks will change and those dark nights be upon us

I have fitted aftermarket HID kits to my other vehicles and they are a mighty impressive upgrade, and therefore want to finish off with the T350. I know there are some potential issues fitting these kits, so I want to ask the question:

Can everyone who has successfully fitted an HID kit to their Tiv; without affecting the dash LED's please reveal the make and source of the kit used so I can follow suit.

Im not sure the LEDs on the dash are even connected to the lights because they are on all the time...or is this just on mine?

I seem to have read threads on aftermarket kits effecting the LED surround on the dials, I mentioned this to a friend and he says it is common on many motorbikes too, the ballast from the HID's effect the dials/lights, he says that you can now get digital ballasts that do not affect the instruments on a bike so he reckons that if you get the digital ballast ones then they may not interfere with the TVR LED’s.

I do not know if anybody has tried these though

Yeah ones I have used for my other cars have been from HIDS Direct, and have the new digital ballasts. All are great, so will probably give them a go and report back.

I purchased the H4 5000K Bi-Zen HID kit from aceparts_UK about £115 inc postage. Works a treat nice white light not the chav blue colour you see on some cars, eay to install & I can now see for miles!!.

Yes the LED dial issue is there, its not a problem if you turn the ignition on to position II before putting the lights on.

The only problems I found are radio reception is crap with the lights on due to electrical interference as the ballast is mounted in the wing next to the areial and I had to change the side light bulbs to match the colour of the dipped beam as they were yellow and looked rubish.

I have the exact H7 kit in the T350 from Ace Parts and get exactly the same as shep1001 above.

Same issues with dash LED's but as said if you turn lights on before starting the engine then they are fine. For me its a small compromise to be able to see, and the 5000K HID's are 100x better than standard, whilst also looking more premium.

Does affect radio reception as well but I have my ipod connected.
