Brawn Pitstop Lollipop

Having seen the McLaren cock up and the way that other teams use the Lollipop It was enlightening to see How Brawn do it. The Lollipop on other crews is lifted and turned meaning the driver could get the wrong message. Brawn's lollipop has a light on it that goes on when they want Jenson or Rubens to "get ready". Hence it does not move until they release the car

It makes perfect sense to me to have it with red for when fuel and tyres are going, then onto amber once the tyres are on and you are just waiting for the fuel to finish so the driver can get ready, then lift it up when it's time to release...

I imagine brawn took the best of the Ferrari system, and then improved on it.

They won't need lollipops next season (no re-fuelling)

As soon as the car is dropped to the ground by the jackmen (driver will feel it go down) and the front man is out of the way it's GO GO GO !!!

Not quite, they will still need to signal whether the track is clear or not, the jack guys can't check that, because they're busy checking for the wheel guys to finish.

Brawn's idea seems to make perfect sense, as there is still a clear manual over-ride if the electrical part fails.

Plus a red light might not necessarily stop a driver from going accidentally too.

Didn't Ferrari use a flashy traffic light system at the start of the season and still have a few cock-ups!

Yes but they don't need to move it until they want to release the car. Others lift and turn the lollipop and that's where the problem can occur.

I disagree. I can't see how it is of any benefit at all.

The previous solution of spin lollipop to get ready, lift to go, is absolutely fine.

Introducing lights is, in my mind, introducing unecessary opportunity for error.

You say that the initial turn of the lollipop (once the car is down) could cause the driver to go. Ludicrous! They all know the first turn is for "ready" and then the lift is go.

It just seems silly to me that they need anything more - I can't see what advantage it brings, only that it brings the possibility of problems.
