hey all,
Wondering if any of you can help me out.

I am a 3rd Yr Automotive Engineering student at Warwick University.
I am an abid motorsport fan and currently race a couple of Westfields in national championships.
I am trying to organise a track/airfield day for my university motorsport club (possibly with other unis involved to get numbers up).
Any idea how i can go about doing this? Is it possible to rent a whole track/airfield day and fill up the numbers with your own people? It would need to be affordable for students and prefably close to the Uni. I.e. Not Scotland!

Any help greatly appreciated,

Gordon.

How would you:-

- find 40 students rich enough to have a suitable car?
- get them all sober on the same day?

;-)

How about you get in touch with some companies who offer trackdays in your area and ask them?

Been emailing companies and they are getting back to me slowly.
40 sober students, not difficult when u think about how many car nuts there are out there who would wanna do it.
Car wise, try what you drive currently is usually the norm!

You might want to look at the insurance you'd need to run your own trackday first. That will probably put you off and then you're best bet would be to approach an existing TDO as mentioned already.

You can hire Curborough sprint course (near Lichfield) for an afternoon. It is strictly one car on at a time for a few laps and then join the queue for your next go but still great fun. With 15 or so participants it works out quite cheap (couple of student nights out with a kebab on the way home biggrin )

Oxford Brookes car club have hired Silverstone GP circuit a couple of times
and they didn't go through a TDO.

Somebody in their karting club might know more: http://www.brookes.ac.uk/about/news/karting
