Ok, so reversing in daylight is just bad but at night or in low light I can't see a thing out of the rear window. Any ideas on how to "untint" the window? I'm wary of using a belt sander (biggrin) etc because of the heater elements. I'd really like to see what's behind me though, especially at night... Is it just a layer of film that comes off with a hair dryer or something fiendishly complex?

Cheers,

Andy

I would guess at it most likely being a window tint film... If it is, it will be fixed on the inside of the screen, try taking a stanley blade and lightly tickling a corner where it won't be seen and see what happens...

I have done a quick search on the net for you, and I have to say, removal does not appear to be too simple...

Didn't read link but they easy way i have found is get a loose corner and then pull real quick and it leaves very little glue behind....

Try also to have the rear screen heater on to warm it up then pull in straight back on itself.

What about sticking your head out of the window, I tend to find that works well when parking my GTS...

Only problem is you end up steaming into something when you're driving down the motorway if you're looking behind you biggrin

Will try picking at a discreet corner this weekend to see what happens. Thanks for all the replies guys and wish me luck smile

Due to the type of work I do, most of the time I drive a Van, I do not have a Rear View mirror so you use the wing mirrors all the time, I also find when im in the Viper I tend to use the Wing mirrors rather than the rear view mirror. It might be an option to use them more smile You soon get used to it smile

I have to agree, I barely ever use the rear view mirror when reversing any of my cars, I always use the wing mirrors... Might be worth a try? (As Mark says, you will soon get used to it)

Yeah I'm more concerned about not squishing idiots milling about behind the car and places like the M25 where you have a billion lanes to cover. A useable rear view mirror would be v handy smile
