Got myself an XJ8
Discussion
greetings all
I'm new here, having previously hung around the Elise forum - so 'hello'
I sold my Lotus in the summer and didn't want to commit to another £25k+ car the current economic climate, and as I only do about 4-5k miles per year I decided to get something big and wafty...
mission accomplished, as I bought a 2000 model XJ8 (3.2) Executive this weekend.
Car is in great condition, has full Jag service history and is in a nice shade of silver with black leather interior.
Mileage is a little high (140K) but it's had a new gearbox and timing chains done etc.
The only issue is a tiny bit of corrosion along the boot seal - so if anyone knows of a good place to get that sorted near SE London, them please feel free to let me know...
oh, price? less than £3k! - first car I've ever bought with my debit card

Bit of a change!
Welcome to the Jaguar forum, find yourself a seat (shouldn't be difficult, it's not usually too busy) and relax. I'll go get your complimentary cigar in a minute ;-)

I figure that if I were to get another Elise/Caterham type car, I'll just put it in the Jag's boot!

I'd be interested in your experience with this at the mileage you say. My dad bought the 3.2 sport 18 months ago - it's a jan 2000 model with 57K on the clock then for £4.5K. He loves it, but has had to replace much of the suspension bushings, wheel bearings, timing chains, water pump + others.I'm new here, having previously hung around the Elise forum - so 'hello'

His total spend is now about £10K, but a lovely lovely car!
