I need to treat my girlfriend after her saying she would come and spend the night up a mountain in wales in late October for the RallyGB.

I am planning on surprising her once the rally is finished on Sunday by stopping at a decent hotel and getting her some spa treatments.

The options so far seem to be Hilton Cardiff, the Radisson, St Davids Hotel and Spa and Celtic Manor.

Has anyone any thoughts on which is the best?

Stayed at St Davids for a couple of nights in July, and it is awesome. room size is huge, and the spa is pretty well equipped. Friendly staff, super clean building, inside and out. and the level of service is what you should expect when paying 5 star prices.

St.david's is the best out of those you've mentioned. However, for a lovely boutique hotel with an excellent restaurant in a nicer part of the world, you could try Fairyhill in the Gower

Also been to St David's Spa and can't fault it, highly recommended.

My parents have stayed in the Celtic Manor and they loved it. The only downside is it's outside of town and the only restaurants in the area are the hotel's own, which are very expensive (but also very good).

I've never used the St David's facilities apart from the bar. One of my colleagues uses the spa regularly and she speaks very highly of the place. The benefit (IMO) is the location as it's surrounded by things to do if you get bored in the hotel.

Another for thumbup the Celtic Manor here.

And if you don't want to eat in the hotel, pop down into Caerleon and try The Priory.

eta sorry just noticed you'll be there on a Sunday evening. The Priory shuts after lunch on a Sunday.

Celtic manor again - stayed there a fair bit with work. Good food I thought. I guess you could class it as a bit souless though

Hi guys, thanks for all your help.

I'm typing this from the 5th floor of the St Davids hotel, it is indeed lovely and my girlfriend was thrilled.
