Discussion
I've been looking for a cheapish used Alfa - 156 or 147 - around Perth and Dundee and apart from the ones advertised at Western (the Alfa dealer in Perth, and NOT cheap) and 1 on ebay I haven't seen any on autotrader.
I know they're not exactly commonplace but it occurred to me I haven't seen any ads for Perth or Dundee independent garages and I remembered there used to be a free ads paper called Car Mart and you'd usually find it on the counter at petrol stations.
I've had a look in a couple of garages in Perth but haven't seen the paper.
Does it still exist?
If not where are all the ads from the indie garages?

Fife Mitsubishi in Cupar have 2 cheap 156 trade ins I think.
You could also try posting in alfaowner Scottish and wanted sections too.
Actually I can only see 1 on the website now and its done alot of miles, but its does look good in red with tan leather and the 1.6 would be cheap to run......you would probably easily get the price down a fair bit too!You could also try posting in alfaowner Scottish and wanted sections too.

Ideally I want a 2.0 but there is a 51 plate 1.8 with 48k miles at Kelty.
Not been to look at it yet.
Otherwise it looks like I'll have to take a trip 'dahn sarth' to get something.
Isn't there a Scottish AROC club mag that has classifieds?

Yeah i usually end up heading south for cars myself! Not been to look at it yet.

Not a great difference with those engines anyway, so worth a look.
I'm not an AROC member so not sure about a Scottish mag, can see classifieds on the website though.

In the past I wouldn't have minded heading down south to get a car but I looked at a couple of cars earlier this year (not Alfas) and they were total sheds, despite being 4 or 5 years old and sold through a big dealer. Not a great difference with those engines anyway, so worth a look.

I don't want to travel a couple of hundred miles to discover a car that's actually covered in scratches/dents and where the inside smells of dog and is mouldy (thanks go to Arnold Clark for all those disappointments. I should've known better).
