Anyone been here before and is it worth the trek? What are the caverns like?

Haven't been to that bit, but Matlock itself is a nice town.

I go here ALL the time, I love it, loads to do and see, Matlock Bath itself is beautiful and often has different events on. Also very much a biker place on Bank Holidays. Heights of Abraham is I think over priced last time I did it, but worth doing once. If you like caving there is a mass of them in the peaks and this area particularly, from your fairly safe tourist ones to some proper cool ones if you know where to find them. I love caves. cloud9

If you go on a weekend and its sunny be prepared to queue to park as Matlock's a main meeting spot for bikers.

Brings back memories - went there a few times when I was a lot younger. A good, fun day out.

I remember hooning down that road in a knackered 206 Diesel once. Don't think the brakes were on fire, but only because it barely had any to burn hehe

Seeing how quick you can get up that hill is also fun...
