Anyone been here before and is it worth the trek? What are the caverns like?

Haven't been to that bit, but Matlock itself is a nice town.

I go here ALL the time, I love it, loads to do and see, Matlock Bath itself is beautiful and often has different events on. Also very much a biker place on Bank Holidays. Heights of Abraham is I think over priced last time I did it, but worth doing once. If you like caving there is a mass of them in the peaks and this area particularly, from your fairly safe tourist ones to some proper cool ones if you know where to find them. I love caves.

If you go on a weekend and its sunny be prepared to queue to park as Matlock's a main meeting spot for bikers.

Brings back memories - went there a few times when I was a lot younger. A good, fun day out.

but watch your approach is coming down that massive hill, especially if driving a stbox full of 14st guys. my brakes were almost on fire after that!

I remember hooning down that road in a knackered 206 Diesel once. Don't think the brakes were on fire, but only because it barely had any to burn
