on BBC now, about race hate.

I don't condone any of the behaviour it's portraying , but I do wonder if the race hate shown would be any different if they put an under-cover white family into a predominantly Asian (working class) area.

I'm not trying to provoke a race debate , more a debate on whether the BBC should have shown that racism exists within all communities to some degree or other

I see your point and it would be interesting to see what happens, however that takes nothing away from the fact that these chav scrotes are s of the highest order.

I can however, see why the bnp have gained in popularity and it will be interesting to see what nick griffin comes out with on question time this thursday night.

No excuse for making peoples lives a misery like we are seeing on BBC 1 right now.

Btw I'm White British and have worked in Muslim countries, friendliest people going.

Agree.

Speaking generally how the hell would you deal with minors threatening violence against you. I assume the 'reasonable force' self defence laws are a grey area when it comes to kids aged as young as 10/11.

It shows the state of some of these chavs. They really have nothing better to do. Although I do think that the reporters are opening themselfs up to abuse, some of the hidden camera shots indicate they are just stood feet away from groups. If you feel under threat you do move away or exit swiftly. Still very shocking that this kind of thing is happening in 2009.

Having lived in High Wycombe and been referred to as "More white scum moving into our area" by a group of Asian lads.... I'd say a bit of balance wouldn't go amiss.

The lads I saw at the end of that program though....Well I'd happily put them up against the wall come the revolution.

Respect has disappeared from some parts of this country, one of the reasons I plan to emigrate some day.

That's exactly what the programme makers have set out to make you feel. The chavs featured are racist scum without a doubt, I certainly wouldn't want to be associated with them , but we should see them as racist scum first , not British .

Saw the last 20 mins. Hubby used to live meteres away from The pub mentioned. I work not far from the main area of interest.

I just wanted to point out that white families have been attacked and picked on and eventually forced out of these same areas, so it is not restricted to ethnic races.

There are some dispicible people/ children around here, sorry state of affairs all round.

I've lived not far from Southmead nearly my whole life. I was there today. The scrotes make my skin crawl, the decent folk warm my heart - there are many truly wonderful people who work extremely hard to pull the community together.

Southmead has always had a lot of trouble regardless of skin colour. I've known a number of BiB based in the area, all frustrated by how little they can do much of the time.

As for the racism aspect, it goes both ways and those who behave in such a way want seeing to in a nasty way, no matter what their skin colour.

No, they are quite clearly British first and foremost - a product of British society.

Well I am Asian (wait, British Asian smile) - I've certainly taken a lot of racism (esp when in school) but never given it out.

Its totally disgraceful and embarassing for anyone British to be honest.

The only thing that surprises me a little is that people don't this kind of behaviour happens up and down the UK.

I agree. I was actually quite shocked, closeted existence I suppose. It is totally unacceptable that people should have to live like that and the racist scum we saw in that film should be dealt with by the authorities. If the law needs changing it should be. Highlighted what a useless piece of work Trevor Phillips is too.

What comical timing from the BBC, I expect a fresh wave of protests from the EDL and UAF.

It would be good if they did the opposite though, take a white couple to either Bradford or Blackburn smile
