When would you choose to die? at the moment I have quite serious back pain & can't do a lot of the fun things that I like. If it were to be forever I'd be considering ending it all. However hope prevails and it should be ok in a few days.

Made me wonder, when would most folk consider checking out?

My grandad died the other day, he went the best way possible, peacfully in his sleep. He was in his mid 80's though so not a bad old innings.

Still miss him though.

The only time that I have ever considered 'cashing in my chips' was Christmas 2007, when I was struck down with the Norovirus. I honestly had it so bad I was considering throwing myself off the roof.

I reckon it's all down to quality of life: if you can't enjoy yourself, what's the point of living?

Enjoyment can come in many forms though - i might be paralysed from head to toe but if they sit my wheelchair in a lapdancing club i'm sure I'd want to keep going for a while. On second thoughts, that might be more like torture...

Had that last year and have sworn if it ever happens again thats it game over. It is the single most horrible illness I have ever had.

To answer the thread, I'd like to go quietly, maybe in my sleep surrounded by loving family and in no pain. For some reason I always thought I'd go at 76, I'll have to wait 48 years to find out, but I'm in no rush.

ETA: Sorry about your Grandad Bob

I'd like to be shot in the arse by an angry husband when I was aged 101.

I had that virus also. Ending it all does seem better than going through it for another minute.

Its that bad.

I'm with you there. It's when you reach that stage when you don't even have any more orange bile to throw up that you think enough's enough.

Both my great grandparents died in the way they thought best, My great grandad died aged 92 working on his neighbours garden (He was a gardener all his life) and they found him lying on the grass - My great grandmother (his wife) Died a few year later aged 97 laying a patio! The were both incredibly active and had no health issues there entire life. both died doing what they enjoyed - gardening.

:Shudder:

I remember it so well... Boxing day evening... after a 2nd Xmas meal with the in-laws, so I was full to the brim.... 2am... pain... 3am... sweats and nausea... 4am to 10am, violently sick every 20 minutes, so accurately you could set your watch by it. I eventually slept on the cold bathroom floor.

Id like it to be as tasteless as possible, something like like that fat american riding the nuke as its dropped hehe

Unfortunatly i dont have access to either a nuke or a bomber to drop it, so id settle for something either fun, or useful. This whole dying in your sleep just doesnt sound like a fun way to die.

If i was told i had an hour to go, i would get hold of a gun, shoot some hoodies, go to McDonalds car park, annoy some chavs, then take the bike out, get into a big police chase, go flat out everywhere & at the time of death just crash in a fireball! fk it, im going to go with a smile on my face!! biggrin

ETA would also do the neighbours daughter, should only take a few mins! biggrin

What, and lose friends over and over again. Fall in love thousands of times only for them to die?

Also, eventually PH will not exist then whatcha gonna do!

Just imagine you telling another story of when you was younger to a poor old sole. hehe
