What is the noise limit at the 'ring, and how often (and how) do they check the cars?

I believe my car's exhaust is about 105-108db so may need to look at silencing it or swapping back the original back box (98db) - or would I be OK leaving the current one on? driving

its 95 dB but quite rarely checked. If you don't rev it up in the car park or roar up to the barrier you should be OK.

Note: no warranty is given or implied with this post.

On all my visits to the 'ring (2hehe) I have since 3 430 Scuds going for it around the track on a club day and touristenfahrt. I think standard they are around the 110dB level.

As said before just be a little discreet around the car park and barriers

As above basically.

Loud cars from idol will probably be checked. Just limp it through the barriers on the clutch and it should be ok. My brothers Evo 9 is 105db and didn't get checked as it went through the barriers as carefully as possible. If you have a bung or anything, take it just in case. There are no noise meters round the actual circuit as far as I know.

And I know that because if there were, my Westfield would have set them off. wink

Hoady I see you're in Surrey. I have an Evo 9 as Matt says in the previous post. I haven't been pulled once as I am very slow through the barrier keeping noise down as much as possible.

May car is 105-106dB at 4,500rpm static test, so i take an exhaust baffle with me. I'm happy to lend this to you if you have a 5 inch exhaust as it fits in the tail pipe and just bolts into place.

It won't get you down to under 100dB, but it will take the edge of the noise for static testing and help you. As long as you're seen to do something about the noise in the event of failing a test, they will probably be very lenient with you.

You're very welcome to come and pick it up for use on your trip.

Hi Laurence, thanks for the kind offer. I had an FQ-360 (HKS Superdrager as standard) and that didn't seem to cause any problems at the ring (not sure what db it was though).

Sadly I couldn't afford to run the Evo as well as the TVR, so the Evo went earlier this year. Problem is, I've put a JP back box on and it is pretty loud (but no louder than standard at idle) and can't find any baffles that will fit the rolled edge tail pipes...

quick update

I have exchanged emails/photos/sketches with Tim at ACT he was very helpful however not able to help on this occasion

So this lunchtime I took my car down to a local custom workshop that specialize in fabrication of bespoke items including exhaust systems

They are coming back to me with a price and I will let you know how I get on
