Driving instructor?

Someone I know trained to be a driving instructor about 4 years ago and now works for himself.
I don't know him well enough to ask how much he earns.
But a year later his wife did the training and they both now work all the hours they can, fitting in around kids etc.
Don't know if the area makes any difference but there are a lot of driving schools up here - I'd say it's how good you are at getting people through the test and thereby getting a good reputation.

spot on. Something for earlie retirement me thinks, that is if your really keen....Even established business are struggling at the moment.

My Dad's a Driving Instructor, he's been in it for a long time, 20+ years. He works as himself, doesn't belong to BSM etc.
The Money seems to be great in it, £25 a lesson (hour). Then something like £70 for the test. He works a few hours a day, he doesn't advertise or anything, and has a steady flow of people coming through. He works when he wants to work, can take days off if he wants etc.

I had a chap similar to your old man teach me to drive. Bloody excellent. I just dont think with the commercialisation and current economic climbs its possible to do what your dad does, without 20 years expirence and looking 50+.The Money seems to be great in it, £25 a lesson (hour).
