Which university is constructing a 450 room residence?

Essex University - Southend Campus is building a 500 room tower block about 100m from their main building. With public multi-storey car park underneath to placate the local authority.

Newcastle has been constructing a large building with accomodation alongside, thought it was finsihed already.

Abertay in Dundee, are in the middle of building some new residence, and causing havic with the roads. However not sure it would be considered 'on site'

FWIW I beleive that nearly ALL universities are currently building/planning/recently built big halls.

The trend is towards all students living in managed 'halls', as opposed to only first years.

The vast quantities of people who own shonky terraces and rent them out to poor students may notice this in the next couple of years.

Certainly in Leeds there is now an excess of student housing, due to all the new blocks being built.

ETA - nearly all except Leeds Met, you would presume!

Was going to guess Leeds. Loads of stuff being built by the Uni at the moment. They are trying to build enough student apartments to get rid of the private student landlords apparently.

Dunno about anyone else but I'd always choose to live in a house where you're pretty much free to do as you like, rather than live in halls.

Halls are for people terrified of having to organise themselves and live int he real world!
