Morning all, need to book the Focus ST in for it's second service but am reluctant to go back to Inchcape after being charged £260 last time round for what was effectively just an oil change - they couldn't even do that right and ended up keeping the car overnight furious

Seem to remember not long after someone recommending a garage in the Hook / Fleet area but can't for the life of me remember the name. Think I'll be needing new pads too so will probably be spending a fair bit. Any help appreciated!

ive just had my car done at mill lane ford in aldershot, having last year had my st in for its first service in fleet autoway ford (the one youve been recommended?), they were ok, if a little impersonal, nothing special.
i also needed pads doing, my secound service cost me a whopping 245 quid and pads all round were 230quid, ford made a fair bit of cash from me that day!

anyway, i cant complain about the service, being a small garage, mill lane ford washed my car down, informed me of any work needing doing, balanced all of my tyres and took me through the wear levels on my tyres and pads and how long it would be before things got bad, very polite, helpful and i got drinks and magazines offered while i waited for the car, i can recommend them fully.

hope thats come help.

Yes it was Autoway! I did a bit of googling and gave them a call - quote was £240. Doesn't sound that much for the car it is, but seems a lot when plenty of people at STOC have had both first and second services for less than my first. Gowrings in Newbury have quoted £200 so looks like I'll be taking it there as it's just down the road - doubt I will get a wash included though!

Out of interest, how many miles had you done on yours before the pads went?

Seems bloody expensive to me, I paid £205 for a major service iirc last time out on my ST220. can't see the bits being too different? Oil wise etc. That was at hendys in fareham.

Ah if only I was a little nearer..

£200 is the lowest out of half a dozen garages I've tried in the area frown I'm in the process of selling the car - thought a fresh service would help with the sale to go along with new wheels all round. Just don't understand why the price can vary from as little from as £130 (not round here!) to well over £300 for what is essentially a minor service.

yeah, autoway gave me a free courtesey car (sp?) and wash, woohoo?! anyway, my pads were pretty badly worn at the front after 22k, rears wernt too bad, but thought id get the whole lot done at once. i know, the stoc is a depressing place to go a look up service costs, its always tons mroe round this way, sucks.
does that 200 quote include a brake fluid change? watch for this, as frauds gave me quotes with, sometimes without, then were gonna sneak it in as an extra.

Thanks guys...mileage has just crept above 20k so I probably do need new pads. I'm fairly sure the quote includes the brake fluid change - it is on the service schedule here : http://www.focusstoc.com/forums/post-a22297-

I'll check before handing the car over tomorrow morning and report back on cost. Have heard good things about Torque of the Devil but home/work are over 30 miles away from Uxbridge - although if the car should ever need a fair amount of work doing then I'd be wise to check it out.
