Any recruitment consultants out there?
Discussion
Hello
Considering changing jobs and am signed up with some recruitment agencies but there appears to be a lack of opportunities. Having my soul slowly sucked out of me in my current role!
Are any of you chaps/chapesses involved in the financial recruitment market and looking to get more candidates on your books?
Brief synopsis:
Qualified chartered accountant (ACA) working in practice as a corporate finance manager. 5 years post qualified experience.
Looking to make transition to working in industry, preferably in Guildford or the surrounding area. Ideal role = management accountant, financial controller, financial analyst and the like.
Thanks!
Neil

i'm not a recruitment consultant, but I hate to say that now is really not the time to be looking for a new job
I'm 5 years post qual ACMA and its taken me 9 months to find a job on less money than I was on before being made redundant, there just aren't very many jobs out there - especially if you're being very focussed on a particular location.
Good luck, but i'd say hold fire on looking until at least January when the market may pick up.
However, if you haven't checked out Morgan Mckinley yet they were by far the best consultants I dealt with
edit - and just to say there are so many candidates out there at the moment, if you want to change to a discipline you don't have much experience of they probably won't even consider you as there are lots who have a wealth of experience that will ultimately look more employable than you (sorry to be doom and gloom, I hope your experience is better than mine has been!!!)

Lots going on with jobs in London at the moment... Got several friends who've landed good well paid roles in town over the last 3-6 weeks; and as per earlier comments, 99% of recruiters are total rubbish and it's very hard to find the 1% because they are very busy and have a great list of contacts so they rarely advertise.
Also worth joining LinkedIn if not already and build up your contacts - lots of useful groups and jobs advertised directly by companies on there too...
Out of town though there is very little happening by the looks of it.
