How to polish/ refurbish the articulated arms of the hood ?

The articulated arms of the hood of my Griff have no a brilliant finish (and some sligh scratches).

Do you know how to give them a mirror polished finish or to refurbish them ? Are they polishable ? If they are in anodised aluminiium, I would be difficult.

Yes they will polish easily, I have done mine.

Easy to remove too.

I successfully polished the salt damage off my header and overflow tanks with fine wet 'n dry paper followed by Brasso. Don't see why the same wouldn't work on your hood arms. Use plenty of soap and water with the paper and don't use too coarse a grade.

Not anodised so just get a tube of autosol and polish away - mirror finish is easy. 1/4 lights on doors and door openers are the same - non anodised and polish easily.

Justa quick one, if you polish them up with autosol, it can leave black marks on the rear screen when folded.. I found autosol, then a wipe down with panelwipe, then some 2k lacquer on my old S3.

Personally I find autosol too aggressive, that's why it produces large amounts of black gunk. I use 'Brilliant' polish that I bought from Mike at The Polishing Company and it gets a really nice finish. I also then cover my struts (yea I know defeats the object of polishing them, but I know they're shiny ) with seatbelt pads to stop the strut marking the window when the roof is down.

Many thanks. I will check. A metal polish like Autosol (named Triomf, slightly abrasive) is effective on door push handles and interior door handles for example but not on the arms. Maybe, they have been lacquered... In this case, what can I do ?

Try to find a local metal polishers, they should be able to simply buff through the lacquer.

If you want to do it yourself, try some 1000 grit paper to remove the lacquer and then buff them up.
