I'm looking at getting a 6 series spending in the region of £20K, what are people's opinions and recommendations.

I'm thinking a 3.0 manual for the reduced fuel consumption, but appreciate any advice, and what shuld I be looking out for whenv iewing them? What are key things that go wrong and costs?

What is the overall feel from owners?

Thanks peeps!

I promise you, everytime you get in the 630, you'll wish it was the V8 hehe

Just get a 645ci , you can do it with that budget, prob a nice 1 owner from new one aswell.

My dad had a 645ci convertible and neither of us could praise it enough tbh, extremely rapid hugely comfortable GT car with all the toys you could want available.

Check whatever you look at for rust, maybe just a flaw with his but it had bubbles appearing under the paint on the drivers door at just 3 years old..

He had the clutch replaced after 1000 miles under warranty and it was on the way out again at around 50k when he gave it back (although in fairness he drove it like he stole it most of the time!). He said the suspension was getting pretty crashy at that mileage as well.

Arent the doors and bonnet aluminium? The front wings are plastic.

Thanks for that, if anyone has anything else to add, it'd be much appreciated.

I have owned a 55 plate 645 auto coupe with most of the toys since January. Only one problem so far, a Xenon bulb burnt out, £192 for replacement by BMW dealer. Car is mostly used in city centre and returns approx 16mpg, at 70 mph it will return about 30mpg. First MOT was this year, no work required. During the heavy snow in January I had to abandon the car as it would not climb a steep hill, every other car seemed to cope except mine.

Very nearly purchased a 630 but my thoughts were that if I did this then after a while I would want the V8 so why bother with the 630? A 645 registered pre March 2006 only costs £215 in tax, the 630 for same purchase price was post March 2006 and about double the cost in tax so the savings in tax cover my extra fuel costs. Car has been absolutely awesome, quality is fantastic, cant recommend enough, would love the M6 but that's not going to happen soon....

Hope that's useful
