Defying gravity

I love the concept of man striving to get to Mars, man vs the elements etc, but I feared this would be 'Eastenders in Space' and it seems I was right.
Lots of bickering, pretty girl astronauts and too much interpersonal stuff. But I suspect the future of mankind will not be on Mars or any other planet, but in 'TV drama'. #

Patchy so far, though I loved Ganesha 'sitting' on the ship at the end.
www.tvguide.co.uk give it an 8, mind, and I find them pretty reliable. So, we'll try episode 2 (on now).

There was a more BBC sciencey version of this called either Grand Tour or Odyssey which was much better this is rather all overly melodramatic mumbo jumbo. There are hints of Sunshine about it, in really bad way.
I do hope its not going to Ron Livingston voice over episode after episode, I'm afraid I'm reminded that the voiceover is usually employed to help the viewer makes sense of a bad narrative. Famously the Ridley Scott unhappiness of Blade Runner being taken away from him for Harrison Ford to voice it over, noir style.

Yeah, nanosuits.
That's what keeps our hair down... Wait wha?
Kinda silly, and I didn't realise that the leaving those 2 astronauts behind was significant due to the lack of decent acting.
He just said sorry with no emotion then lifted off. I was thinking "So they'll just catch the next rocket?" and then it dawned on me. That guy just essentially killed 2 people and showed zero emotion until 2 years later a reporter asked him about it.
I think this guy is a psychopath, which makes the show a bit more interesting.
