400se cheap starter motor and alternator!

not sure what price people are paying for these parts but i picked up an alternator today for £50 +vat (exchange) from South Eastern Auto Electrical in maidstone, well pleased with that price
and i also bought a new starter motor the other day for £45 +vat (not exchange) from Island 4x4 on the Isle of Sheppy, the solenoid was slightly shorter and fatter but fits and works ok.

a lot cheaper than most i've seen advertised

If you're near Reading, Burghfield Alternator and Starter centre are the boys. Proper reconditioning service and they really know their onions.
