PT Cruiser 'Sport'

They're having a larf, surely?!

Chrysler UK are treating us to another version of the uniquely styled PT Cruiser. 2004 will see the introduction of the 'PT Sport'

The Sport is based on the 'Classic' version but benefits from a roof spoiler, alloy wheels and a badge. It's available in a unique graphite colour.

Power? The same 2 litre motor as in the standard car. Come on Chrysler, 'Sport' is taking a bit of a liberty!

Just put in a 300M v6 for starters . . .

Or if you really want to rock the boat:

Somebody send them a muscle car of the 60's, 70's as they seem to have lost their way a little

Doesn't make sense?

The 'Classic' already had alloys and you had the
option for a roof spoiler?

As much as I enjoyed the PT as a family car, until
they sort the power / economy out ( worse mpg than my
Cerbera! ) I won't have another.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but I actually like the PT Cruiser
Basically I see it as an MPV for blokes. This or a Scenic? Come on.
I agree though - it needs at least a V6 (maybe that one from the Plymouth Prowler?) It appeals to me in a first-half-hour-of-Goodfellas way - at least it's got some character.
But calling it a 'sport' and sticking plastic tat to it is a stupid idea. I'd much rather see a 'mobster' version in black with lots of chrome, blacked-out windows, wire/disc wheels and a chrome/metal dashboard with a big bakelite steering wheel

Totally agree - I had one and loved it except for the
reasons stated in my previous post.

They've just started selling a turbocharged 220bhp "GT" version of the PT Cruiser over here. I'm sure it's a bit quicker than the standard model, but all of that superficial style quickly lost it's appeal when we tried one out a while back...

Too bad Chrysler hasn't followed the standard set by Hennessey. A few years back they introduced the "PT Crusher". As I recall, they put a firewall behind the front seats, mid-mounted a Viper Venom 650R engine, mated that to a 4-wheel drive system, and put in a roof duct so it could breathe. ~$200K-$250K, and supposedly capable of 200+ mph. Now that is deserving of the "Sport" name! Sadly they never produced it.

Now if only someone would do something like that with the new Mini...

Despite the 'sport' suffix, it still looks like an old Austin Ten! Particularly in black.

Big whoomfling V8, lowered suspension and some more aggressive detail styling might do the trick though?
