Was early for an appointment this morning so tootled up the motorway with the cruise set to 56.
Sat in the inside lane as all manner of clio's,corsa's and quite a few white vans scooted past.
I'd reset the Consumption1 on the computer and was getting an unbelievable 32.9mpg
Yes thats right 32.9
Have to say it was the worst 20 odd miles I've driven in her in the 6 months I've had the beast but it is proof positive that it can be done.

Poofs!!! Anyone who talks about MPG with 3L and above deserves to be slapped!!
Didn't say I do it very often - that's with the wife driving.Interestingly (or maybe not) the M5 is more economical in those circumstances than the 3.2 Alfa it replaced.
I was looking at these in the classefieds a while back and was wondering about how thirsty they really are - a lot more than an E46 M3?
I did an 'undred miles on the M62 this week through both ends of a day's rush hours and only scant opportunity to hammer thine schnell into das Kessel.
The tank was brimming to start with (used 95 octane because I'm practicing being Yorkshirist) and when I got back the trip thingy was telling me another 290 miles of hoonstriction remained.
This was, quite frankly, ridicularse economy given the type of driving for the day and rendered the V10 cars' undoubted performance benefits somewhat forfeit c/o their absurd, relative profligacy.
That is, of course, until you lash one of these to within an inch of their 8250 rpm leash and realise that frugality is a fantastically overrated foible of the foppish left.
The OP, is quite frankly, lying, btw.

Yes, but the OP's M5 does have 2 cylinders less than your V10...The tank was brimming to start with (used 95 octane because I'm practicing being Yorkshirist) and when I got back the trip thingy was telling me another 290 miles of hoonstriction remained.
