Hi Guys,
Looking at doing a small road trip at the end of November with my girlfriend and have a couple of options..take the Nob to the med coast and through the alps or take my Golf 4motion to Norway for the northern lights/fyords etc...
Obviously taking the Nob is a great draw but I've already done a road trip through the med and I fancy Norway (never been) even with the golf, anyone got a 2p to put in??

the alps are always a blast but i cant imagine snow and nobles go well together.
I have a couple of mates who own apartments and a chalet in a place called Valmeinier, French Alps, loads of parking, a garage and a large terrace on which to drink cold beers and look down the valley. He's a cycling enthusiast - which i wont hold against him - but will be out there full time next summer and will do catered accommodation with his fiance. The roads round there heading up to the Galibier Pass are absolute corkers in the summer. I reckon I might put together a bit of a road trip next year if people fancy it.

Stelvio pass was awesome. Very busy on a Sunday, but Monday morning at 9am we had the place to ourselves... incredible.
Getting the ferry (sorry, "mini cruise") back from Spain is a hoot... highly recommended.
Best roads are northern Italy, especially Stelvio but also "the Chianti road" through Tuscany. Simply stunning.
From my experience, I *think* a Noble would handle it OK, but transmission and suspension got a real hammering.

Rough crossing to Bilbao, then great road over Northern Spain, through Andorra to the Millau bridge, through the Camargue and med coast, St. Tropez, Monaco, and over the Alps into Switzerland and lake Geneva.
2500 miles of brilliant roads, people, places, car was great with no problems at all.

Well didn't think you lot would be interested in random pics of me at the bar....just to prove the car was there!
The car was ok in the snow, slow and steady into the downhill hairpins and sideways out of the uphill ones..fun! We were lucky the main routes were pretty clear, another couple of weeks and things could have been different.
Oh and a tip...to avoid a topgear type incident in Marseille's carparks find a street spot, we managed to get stuck at the out gate at an underground carpark, cue an audience, beeping and french swearing as we had to go out the in gate to get out

looks like there are several people up for a pan-european blat next year then. I would be happy to tag along, dates and cost pending, I can try to get some rough costs for a 4-5 day trip if there people would like ? I'm no holiday rep, but have a few contacts that may be able to assist if I know some target destinations.
