Any ideas for good golf breaks for 8 blokes, last year went to Turkey, Golf, food and beer all great but prices seem to have gone up 20%

All prices seem to have gone up, just a bit shocked at how much; we paid £600 last year all in, i.e. flights, golf (3 rounds) food and beer, that was for 4 nights

Any good deals lurking around, normally go 1st week of June

Villamoura in Portugal was the last place my dad went with the golf society. Really nice courses apparently, but not sure you'd beat £600 each. Have you considered somewhere in the Middle East at all? You can get cheapish flights to Dubai or Abu Dhabi and they are really pushing golf holidays at the moment.

What's wrong with good old Blighty in June ?

Me and 7 mates went up north in August, to Kingussie, stayed at Calum's cottage http://www.cottageguide.co.uk/calumscottage/frames...

It cost us £310 each for the week, but you can get the cottage for under £600 (total cost), then spend what you want on golf. The cottage is outstanding. I have no reservations about recommending it to anyone.

For our 310 quid we got the accommodation and 11 rounds of golf (phew), in 7 days.

Saturday - Played the Muckart Open on the way up.
Sunday - Back down the road a bit to play in the Pitlochry texas scramble.
Monday - 36 holes at Newtonmore.
Tuesday - 36 holes at Boat of Garten.
Wednesday - 18 holes at Nairn Dunbar (the most expensive).
Thursday - 36 holes at Kingussie.
Friday - 36 holes at Grantown on Spey.

Saturday - begin physiotherapy.....

The point is, with a bit of organising, starting about now, you can get some good deals without leaving this wonderful island of ours.

Golfing holidays ? Scotland is the Mecca of golfing holidays. Ask the Yanks. :-)

I think the yanks only come for the tradition or to get away from the misses, I've played both and find it hard to compare scratchchinanything in Scotland to the courses the other side of the pond, have a look at this course we played twilight for $55 (including buggy) and guaranteed sunshine a month ago www.golfwolfcreek.com

check out http://www.yourgolftravel.com/ - we've used these to book for Villamoura May 2010.

I just got back from Belek, Turkey last Friday....prices for food/drink and golf are definitely more expensive than
they were a year ago. The euro is really hurting us Brits ! even though they still use the Turkish Lira, Golf prices
are all in euros.

Have you thought about somewhere in Europe which has not moved to the Euro yet ?

Maybe a cheap ryanair flight and arrange your own golf/hotel/hire car....
