I would say especially not if you are 12. Learn it properly when you are that age and it will one day cause you physical pain to use text speak. Which is of course exactly what you want:

Absolute old man nonsense....when you say goodbye to a mate do you say "seeya" or do you say" Goodbye, I will see you later on". I expect someone from 100 years ago would be horrified to hear the way you speak now....language is fluid, move with it.

I agree with this to some extent: Just not a very great extent.

Language is also a means of communication and and art form, and if it is used incorrectly then it fails at both.
