1.6 TDi engine in 2006 Mazda3 same as focus????

Need help as we have a 2006 56 plate Mazda3 with the 1.6 TDi engine. Turbo has blown and Mazda dealer says parts have got into engine so new engine is now needed at a cost of over £4k

I've been told this is the same engine as found in a focus, anybody confirm this is true?

I beleive it is, or at least similar, I guess the block & major components will be the same
