Postal Strike - beginning of more?

Just been thinking and probably quite randomly, but with the postal strikes starting today and more being announced for next week now too, with the country currently in a st way with the recession, there isn't a great deal of cash to move in a deal.

I wondered, if the postal issue can't be resolved, will it push other unions to go on strike too in sympathy? Are we on the route to a general strike (if we can still have such a thing?)

Just wondered really in case I should be stocking up on tinned food and buying candles and a camping stove!

To go on strike in an economic climate like we have at the moment is stupid very very stupid. which makes me wonder if it has been engineered so that talked of changes can be made easier/cheaper.

i believe RMT union is going to do a tube strike around xmas....
