Golf GTI 1.8t MK4 problems
Discussion
HI,
I have a mint 2001 1.8t GTI with 110k on the clock and absolutely full VW history. I have a couple of minor issues however
1) the temp gauge does not always stay at 90 degrees, sometimes it drops halfway back to cold for a bit and them comes up to 90 again. I have replaced the temp sensor but this made no difference. Now, I know that the water pump can break up, and a variable temp is a clue, but would this not rise abve 90 degrees due to loss of circulation? (mine never goes above 90). Cambelt was done and I have every receipt including the belt service and am pretty sure they did not change the pump when they did the belt and tensioners.
2) Boost seems to be erratic, power is there but sometimes it feels a bit flat - could this most likely be MAF, diverter valve or the boost limit valve (N95 ?which some people block off)
