spitfire coin?

I've tried googling and come up with nothing, but the mrs mum has a brooch made from a 1940 coin with a picture of a spitfire. it was her mums, aparently something to do with raising funds to buy spitfires. any ideas or more info on them?

i've seen plenty of coins made into spitfire broaches, but not a coin with a spitfire on it.

have you got a link to a pic? as that might be it. I haven't seen it but the mrs has been asking me about them, as though id know what shes on about.

thats a fancy one, but usually they were just an old penny folded, then wings cut, then the wings were folded back up
