I was just watching the news and it would appear that East Africa and Ethiopia have asked for world food aid again 25 years after Live Aid set out to end this very situation.

So

1, Where has all the Billions pumped into Africa gone?
2, What has actually been achieved as here we are right back where we started
3, The BBC says that these people are the Victims of Climate changerolleyes. Surely the fact athat these people were in exactly the same boat 25 years ago suggest that it has sod all to do with climate change and perhaps due to the fact that the unsuitable climate has not changed (to their benefit)

The land just cannot support that many people, this is nature at work. Fighting it is not going to work. Horrible and sad as it is sometimes we just need to accept that population is too high.

You mean a dependence on the annual aid packages?

I think it was more localised warming and a lack of rain. Hardly rocket science, obviously a bit over the heads of the BBC journos.

Population growth in undeveloped African countries was once explained to me thus:

"It gets dark at night and there's nothing else to do."

Yes, which was more localised warming and lack of rain.

Much like all heatwaves or cold spells.

I believe the technical name for it is weather.

Kids are often seen as a loan package. The more kids, the more help on the farm etc etc.

My mother can remember "collecting pennies for thr brown babies" as it was called by the church when she was growing up in Ireland in the 1940's!!

And it wasn't a new issue then either ....

Its just the way that Africa is.

I know thats not the nicest thing to say but it is the long and short of it, people come along (white colonial's arab slavers, black warlords whoever) and rape the land for everything its worth without giving a toss about the indigenious people, then fk off with what they have taken, and so the cycle continues!
