Following on from this thread, can anyone recommend a place who will make a scale model of my racecar?

Much appreciated.

Keith Dowsett at Kamtec models might be able to make one for you,

http://kamtec.co.uk/

They do a lot of low volume stuff, they made a few modified MINI shells for charity a while ago.

How did you make the real cars body?

Could you not buy and off the shelf model of something similar (Radical or some such) and then make your own body?

Do you have CAD files of the bodywork? If so you could get a scaled down plug made and then vacum form a body or lay up with thin fibreglass?

If you don't have the CAD files the body looks very smooth and simple wouldn't be too hard to make your own plug with some wood, filler and sand paper.

What's the budget? what are the material requirements? the options range from vac formed plastic, sand cast, rapid prototyped. The choice of method depends on how much you want to spend and what you want it made of.

Ooh yes if you had the CAD surfaces for the body you could get it rapid prototyped a piece of piss.

The bodywork was on it when I bought it however for spares I have a set of moulds which we fibre-glass up to make a new nose, mid-section or tail.

Ideally don't want to spend more than 150-200 but for the right kind of thing I don't mind stretching it out a little.

Was thinking of possibly making a mould from MDF and vacuum forming a body to put over an RC car?

To be honest mate it looks like a really simple body, surely you could knock up a plug/mould out of wood and filler in a couple of hours and then as you say vacum form a body for an RC chassis?
