I've bought a 1.8 turbo golf within the last month and I'm a little dissapointed in the fuel economy. I took it on a 200 mile run on monday, all motorway and it returned just under 37mpg, according to the book it should be doing this round town! After getting rid of a clio 182 I was expecting the golf to do a little better. The car is a decent example, year 2000, 79K with full history and I cant see its had any issues in the past and it seems to drive without any faults. Has anyone else had a similar experiences or have any suggestions? - the only pointer I've had so far is that it could have a faulty O2 sensor, although I've got no warning lights on.

any comments, suggestions welcomed.

Thanks
