Delfino Feroce sportscar
Discussion
I use to work for Team Lotus and when it was in its final years it was owned by David Hunt,Allard who started Delfino was a friend of Davids and I got asked if I would help him out for a week or so as Allards new car had a big launch planned
Allard had come up with the idea for the subaru running gear an wanted to build his own car,it was to be shown to a group of would be investors at a big party at RAF Roughton nr Swindon. When I arrived the project was way behind an the pattern for the front bodywork wasnt complete (there was talk of putting the pattern onto the rest of the rolling shell for the launch)In the end the car was launched with no bonnet on it an the pattern at the side of it,thats the 1st picture on the delfino site. The running gear had been fitted into an original Minari rolling shell with a lot of butchery an went to the show with metal brackets holding various parts into the cut about Minari shell ,it even had solid bars in place of the springs/dampers
As far as I know eventually there was a mould made for the front an properly made shell so Allard got a complete car but the investment never came off an i didnt hear anymore about it till a very similar looking car appeared the other year,I did mention the "Delfino" word to them when they started but they werent very happy about it

Thanks for this great piece of inside information on the Delfino project, it does give a better picture of the whole project and the problems that some potential manufacturers face when finances don't come through.
