Why the big bills when they go wrong?

my diff just went and its going to be a 2.5k job to fix. but thats going to include a new clutch. labour is the big issue. 650 for a diff from quaiffe 500 ish for a clutch (i havnt checked prices yet) labour £50 per hour. diff out job 10 hours out 10 hours back plus the clutch job. same costs for a mondeo well would a mondeo diff go? unlikly and if it did and the car was under a certain value without a warrenty you wouldnt bother fixing it for the cost involved.

Slipstream, Try JD Motors in Insch (just along the road??). Their labour rates are more reasonable than £50/hr.RichyBoy said:

This is crazy, these are not big bills, it costs £600 clutch and bearing,recon the gearbox every 20k miles for less than £1000, mine just got done for £520, a full engine rebuild is only £3500, have you any idea how much these bills would be for any of its rivals, like Porsche GT3 or Ferrari 360CS?I got custom made S/S dual flow exhaust £800 fitted, racing intercooler £500, turbos upgraded to T28, £325 each, cam timing/valve springs + fitting of motorsport fuel pump including remap £1300, that takes you up to 500bhp, there is a saying "power costs money", on the M12 it is a case of "Power Comes Cheap", "maintenance comes cheap", "everything is cheap" when speaking comparitively to its rivals.
This is supercar performance we are talking about, if you talk to my friend who just got a 20k repair bill on his F430 you would not be saying M12's are expensive to rapair/maintain.
