Wet lines at Snetterton
Discussion
Must admit I really struggled in the wet in the R300 (though I usually say I am good in the wet as quite smooth), but a car that can wheel spin in 3rd in the dry is quite a handful in the wet. Just shame I didn't get chance to get a proper wet setup on the car to do it justice.
In the dry though it was awesome and absolutely loved it - just needed a few more laps and think I could have been battling for the podium. It was great fun chasing down the leading pack after having an early race battle for 9th/10th and then eventually breaking free to close the 9 seconds off the lead I had dropped. Really pleased with the lap times too as managed to put in three 1:17.1 during the race and only two others were that quick on the day
Now how do I persuade the missus that racing R300s next year is something I have to do

Get it done Pete, you know it makes sense. Glad you liked it, the car is now fantastic after the latest mods. A bit more time with one and a suitable setup will pay off loads, they are extraordinarily good in the wet.
Grid looks to be over 20 cars for next season, good racing against you and hope to see you back in a 300 soon.

It is a very good race series, especially as the 06 (you may know him James
) and 07 Academy champions are in the series too (just showing what you can do from the Academy)
If I get the budget together then I will be out there, as regards to costs what are the consumable parts like on the cars (e.g. Tyres, brakes, clutches, discs etc? - I suppose wings too)? How many races can you do on them?

This year i've used about 7 sets of tyres, swapped the front pads twice the rears about 4 times, and used one set of discs, Had 1 gearbox rebuild and at the same time i put in a new clutch plate and release bearing. I've had 1 wing this year and 2 nose cones so not that many in Caterham racing terms.
Looked like you were getting the hang of the car in the second race.

Well done Pete. I was impressed with your pace for a first time out in the car. Get the money, see you next year.In the dry though it was awesome and absolutely loved it - just needed a few more laps and think I could have been battling for the podium. Pete,
Costs of consumables are along the lines of roadsports but without the need for an engine refresh at minister at the end of the year.
I use three sets of rims and rotate them down from wet to testing to quali and race. This is the biggest outlay, bar damage I have used similar to Peter.
Would check properly but that always makes me kinda sick.

ps: what "wet line" did you end up using end of revit race one lap one? My rear camera has total carnarge going on...... fortunately no carnage of the financial type..
I took the unusual choice of the tarmac for the first lap, though some of the racers who took the greener line seem to be quicker so I tried that line the next lap which turned out not to be the quickest
