I'm sure a few people will ring in, to see about contributing to the reward, and be quite disappointed to find out they want to nick em smile

Why does anyone need to contact police in respect of the crime? Sounds like the scote admitted he was pouring beer onto a road. Case closed........

Since when does pushing someones head over the edge of the bridge mean "dangled from bridge"

Many years ago when I was rowing (at Uni), one of the chaps from the city club boathouse we shared had a similar incident.

A couple of promising footballers where throwing rocks off the top of a rail bridge at the boats passing below. After a near miss to the boat he was in, he ordered the cox to pull the boat into the bank. He ran up the bank, and onto the bridge.

The next thing the rest of the crew heard and saw was a loud voice demanding who threw that fking rock, a short pause, and then the body of said PF being hurled off the bridge into the river. The chap then reappeared, got back in the boat, and told the cox to carry on with the training session.

Headline: Boy dangled over side of bridge

Opening line: A boy was held over the side of a bridge

Description of actual event within body of article: Two men stopped their car, slapped the boy in the face and pushed his head over the edge of bridge

OK, so perhaps in the current climate of protecting the rights of scrotes to go about their everyday antisocial business without let or hindrance, giving the little toerag a slap and threatening to push him over the edge wasn't a smart move. But FFS, how is pushing his head over the edge of the bridge in any way equal to dangling him over the side of the bridge? And why do the BBC feel the need to compete with the sensationalistic tabloid media like this? Either stick to reporting the news AS IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, or don't bother reporting it at all mad

I kind of agree, but the Plod press release states "The offenders then dangled the boy face down over the bridge". All the BBC (and every other news source will be doing this) is rehashing the Police's words. There's no journalistic effort involved. Below is the press release in it's entirety for your delectation....

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a 13-year-old boy was threatened with being thrown from a bridge by two men in Milton Keynes.

The incident happened at about 9.30pm on Thursday 15 October, as the boy was walking over a bridge in an area known as the four bridges, between Leadenhall and Eaglestone, with three of his friends. The boys stopped and were pouring Pepsi over the bridge onto the road below.

Two men in a black hatchback car stopped on the V7, heading towards the city centre, and approached one of the boys. The men slapped the boy in the face and pushed his head over the edge of bridge threatening to throw him off. The offenders then dangled the boy face down over the bridge which crosses the H7 between Eaglestone and Fishermead. The boy was then pushed to the floor and threatened again. The offenders then walked back to their car and drove off towards the city centre.

The first offender is white, mid to late twenties, 5ft 10ins to 6ft, slender with a closely shaved head and stubble on his face. He was wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.

The second offender is white, late twenties to early thirties, 6ft to 6ft 2ins and slender. His hair was shaved at the sides and closely cut and gelled down on top. He was wearing a white jumper with dark blue or black jeans with dark brown boots.

The car the offenders were driving was a small black hatchback.

If you have any information about this incident, please contact PC James Punter at Milton Keynes Ppolice station via the 24-hour non-emergency number, 0845 8 505 505. If you do not want to speak to the police, call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

OK, on reading the TVP version of events it fully explains the BBC headlines, and makes it seem like a genuinely serious incident. So why did the Beeb feel the need to omit those details from the version they published, and leave themselves open to justifiable accusations of sensationalism?

Not really, the release isn't exactly clear. Sounds like they may have lifted him up and pretended they were going to throw him, still only with his head actually over the barrier.

Tbh, I'd go mental if some scrote was pouring things off a bridge and it hit my car.

Got what he deserved.

Law of the jungle - step outside of common decency, throwing stuff from bridges which has the capability of causing serious injury or death, then expect the consequences.

Admittedly, it something the plod should deal with but as they're too busy with paperwork...

Get bobbies back on the beat and back in patrol cars with the authority to deal with matters with common sense (able to give a scrote a thick ear) and this will happen less.

However, you and I know that the police will be going all out to catch those who dangled this little f***er and ignoring the little s**t throwing/pouring stuff at cars. Sums up what is wrong with this country really.

Wasn't there a Lorry driver killed 'cos some scrote threw a brick off a motorway bridge a few years back.

I am always on my guard when I see people loitering on bridges as I approach underneath. OK they could be car spotters, or having a rest but you can never be sure what stupid stunt they maybe upto.
