Thinking ahead for winter projects on the car and in particular tuning the 4.5. I would be interested to know what worthing tuning can be done on the 4.5 apart from a remap and induction kit.
Is it worthwhile having the heads ported and flowed or are they already very good, cams, exhaust manifolds etc..etc. It would be great to have a THREAD with a list of parts and suppliers that from our experience we know works. Don't want to spend silly money getting the last drop of power but would like to know the best bang for bucks bits out there.

Drop your cats, but horses for pounds, remap and short induction is best.
May gain up to 10 bhp from ACT manifolds but your looking at £925 +vat for those.
Red Rose conversions would see more power ( raised comp, balanced chambers, flowed head.) Again not cheap.
Not sure about cams

Hi - what does that include? Was it a rebuild or did you simply have them skim the heads and remap cos you fancied some more power?
Have you also gone whirlwind induction?

Hi Paul

I really do suggest you get it remapped fully first.

Had a chat at the Black Swan Thursday and two people said that they hardly ever rev theirs past 6000 anyway!

They looked surprised when I said mine peaks at 7984 rpm with the standard induction.

hi steve

Will get it remapped eventually. I'm am going to remove the engine for a general overhaul this winter and while its out accomadate any upgrades then. I still intend to fit a Rotrex or Procharger. I have already had ine inlet system made up. Its based on the 4.2 cast system but has been ported and flowed with the 48mm throttle butterflies from the 4.5. I have also had steel airboxes made up to accomadate the low boost I want to run.
It's just that if the charger doesnt work well I want to revert back to a well sorted N.A. engine, so hence the thread about other tuning parts.
