That nice man who runs Grand Prix has said we don't need a British Grand Prix. I know it's part of his negotiating stance with Silverstone, but he does like to be hated doesn't he? I think we should all help him with his dearest wish and run the little pillock out of town. Just constant reminders to the press in regard of his best friends Briatore, Mosley etc. His comments about Hitler, the fact Bernie is getting too old, his early signs of senility. And the second worst wig in the world.

I think that he is now just the hired help for CVC. He has managed to establish a world market price for hosting a GP and plenty of governments are willing to pay that price. Much as I hate seeing races staged in front of empty grandstands, I think we just have to accept that venue, or history, will not dictate how this is played out.Sadly, my guess is that Bernie will not be the first to blink.

Silverstone is the home of British motorsport with england being the home of most of the top F1 teams - withought even mentioning all the other formula's that are based in england.
I would love to take this imbicile over to Italy and see him say that he doesnt need to run an Italian GP. I wonder how far the little fool would get before the Tifosi string him up from the nearest tree.

what right?who does he think he is? He's the guy who gets to say what GP goes where and when.
Well Silverstone's position is that they want a long term contract and won't host in 2010 without some kind of guarantee of future races and I guess this is the sticking point for Bernie. I don't see him having a problem giving Silverstone the gig at a knockdown price this year, especially as whoever hosts it is going to be in a far poorer cashflow position than they would have been if they'd started selling tickets a year before the race date. The issue will be that *insert name of 3rd world banana republic here* will pay more than Silverstone to hold the race from 2011 on than Silverstone will be prepared to pay so from a pure business perspective ditching the BGP is a no brainer as far as BCE is concerned. Bernie is trying to cut out the emotive elements of the decision to play hardball with the BRDC but he knows as well as anyone that a season made up of 17 Singapore, Valencia and Turkey GPs will have viewers turning off in their millions.
We will have to wait and see the outcome I guess!

I read this story on f1-live just below a story of how BE is still trying to get Melbourne to run a night race in Oz to suit better the core audience for F1 in Europe. 
I am totally suportive of the BRDCs tough stance with BE re the BGP why should they run at a loss and waste money that would be better spent in other areas just to maintain one event. F1 has to be one of the only entertainment events in the world where the promoters run with such massive losses.

Bernie is getting awkward because he has been let down by the other venue... IMHO the BRDC are negotiating well, as it is Bernie Ecclestone who has blinked first with the comment that he has now made...If there is no British Grand Prix next year or the year after that, we now know who to blame, the 'right eye blinking' Bernie...

A well thought out medium term game and another kick up the arse for the UK...

The sad fact is that CVC are NOT making money and their investors want a yield on their bonds! bernie has never understood 'marketing' digital tv, sponsorship or making circuits profitable. He only want to discuss 'Rights Fees' and loves to mix with Royalty, celebs and somewhat mislead politicians.
I can soon see three races in China, two in India, four in SE Asia, Three in the USA, two in S America and a couple in Europe. Will anybody go....no. Will the TV companies still pay....if we keep watching yes, as will sponsors.
Why don't people in the UK actually start standing up for what we want and just NOT watch BBC1 and start pestering the F1 teams and their sponsors to force a race in the UK. Boycott Vodafone, Mercedes, Renault, Toyota, and any other UK sponsor and you will get a race because Bernie will panic when CVC start wanting his blood.
