Evening guys. So lets assume for a moment that I haven't just upgraded to Windows 7 and forgot to save all my Photoshop actions and Lightroom presets, and that I am able to access them through windows explorer in order to make them available after I upgrade...

Where should I be able to find them and what do I need to do to get them into PS and LR on my Win7 machine.

And if you cant answer that, would there be any way of recovering said actions and presets if I were to forget about exporting them from my Vista-installed PS and LR, wiped over my C:\ with Win7 and then realised that I actually really wanted to keep those files?

Oooops frown

I'm just setting up Windows 7 and would have forgotten about actions until I came to use them. Lucky I bought a new laptop and they are all sitting on the old one smile

On XP, you'd find the Lr presets in Documents and Settings/<your username>/Application Data/Adobe/Lightroom. Presumably, they'll be in whatever is the equivalent Vista directory. I don't have Ps, but I'd start in a similar place looking for the actions.

You think Vista thought of anything as sensible as that? I'd be very surprised.

Personally, I'm moving back to XP. two years of Vista has caused health problems.

Good luck with 7 chaps... You are very brave folks. I won't touch it with a barge pole for at least 6 months. Gates doesn't do his homework.

Well I never, it's not as if I've only gone and found them...

C:\Windows.old\Users\Jon\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings

...if you're interested, looks like the Win7 install has made a copy of my old C:\ and helpfully put it in that there Windows.old folder. Similar for LR too. And my firefox bookmarks. Wonder what else I'll have forgotten...
