floor mats with weak velcro

The driver's side mat in my 5 year old E61 refuses to stay in place; the velco is no longer strong enough to hold it. I bought some 3" wide velcro on ebay for a few quid, cut out 2 3" discs from the loop portion, peeled off the old pads from the mat and stuck the new ones on with evostik contact cement. The mat is no firmly in place and it beats buying a new set!
