Anyone bought and fitted a 'diesel chip' ?

My trusty Audi A6 1.9 TDI has gone, and the new A6 2.0 TDI auto is returning piss-poor MPG.

There are a number of suppliers in the car mags providing self-install boxes; just wondered if anyone could recommend one ?

cheers

From past experience, we haven't had great success with the 'piggy-back' style chips, maybe a few extra miles to a tank of fuel but not a great amount of extra 'ooomph'

We only tried it on our vans rather than cars but personally would go for a re-map over a piggy back chip.

Doh, sorry, actually read you post properly this time!

Sounds like you have other problems if that difference is in the same car or is that from the old on to the new one?

Contaxct Simon at E-Maps I cannot recomend him enough, he did my 320d E46 before we went to Scotland and it transformed the car, the MPG was greaton the motorway.

The performance was fantastic! a surprising change that made for a great week.

Is it brand new? Could take a while for the engine to loosen up before it returns higher mpg's

Out of those two I would recommend Simon.
I have known him for years.
We have the same hardware for doing mapping work.

If the new car has a DPF fitted in the exhaust and the old one didn't then that could be the difference right there.

In an Alfa 159 2.4 diesel I had for a while my cross country drive to work was returning 30mpg. I was quite shocked, but apparently that is normal on this latest generation. My petrol V6 gets 25mpg on the same run, and I know which engine I prefer to drive!

Still worth remapping though, turbo engines just cry out for it smile

Try AmD in Woking. They have a range of remaps for the 2.0 and 1.9Tdi and a very long reputation in the business. Plus Simon Howarth is a very helpful and knowledgeable guy. Don't have their phone no to hand but they are on the internet.

No connection other than happy customer......
