Just seen that it is £12.50 on steam at the moment.

I loved OFP, wasn't too impressed with the original ARMA and have not bothered with dragon rising.

Should I? Or am I better investing in a couple of pints?

30+ player co-op over teamspeak is fantastic. People dedicate themselves as pilots, dropping you (and your mates) off at an LZ. Calling in air support from a (real) person flying over head in an Apache. Requesting armour support from a bunch of guys rolling around in a tank or calling for APC transport.

It *is* great - but only online, and only when organised. The SP suffers from shocking AI, a couple of random internet idiots really ruin it for everyone too...

Oh yeah, and its really, really hard! Sometimes your running to cover, and *bam* - dead.

If your after some realism, its a great game.

It's a real resource hog apparently.

It does need a beefy system to run at high specs, but its very scalable.

It can be frustrating - waiting around for someone to pick you up, or flying over 9k to get to the LZ only to land and be shot instantly, or have some "noob" flying and crash into the side of a mountain.
But thats realism for you (well, maybe not the latter). If you're expecting a CoD/MW style game on a larger scale, you'll be dissapointed. Its more of a miliary simulator.

if you loved Op flashpoint (dispite its flaws) then you will love ARMA 2, in terms of realisum it makes Op Flashpoint 2 look like Counter Strike.

I'm fine on the mil sim thing - I'm put of by the original arma issues of being shot at by people so far away that you can barely see them but who are superb marksmen despite using ak47which seem more accuratre than sniper rifles.
