Had the old-type Sport Contacts filled to my old Celica (differently kettle of fish to a TVR mind) and they didn't impress me much at all, when I replaced them with SO2s it was like a new car - still felt like a hairdresser in it though

General consensus is Bridgestones are best on a Chimaera, although Toyos may also be a decent choice. Bracknell Tyre and Battery and Micheldever Tyres have always done good prices on these.

Edited to say: Make sure you get a Z speed rated Toyo for the front if you get them, the older ones in Chimaera sizes weren't rated at this level and therefore rendered you uninsured if fitted!

Have asked on here before but not got a response, but does anyone have any knowledge of the "Vredestine" (sp?) tyres being advertised and promoted heavily in Evo mag? Rich...

the thing is i can get continentals @ trade price (one time only!) - £15/20-ish a tyre.

Just seems a good opportunity to get some while i can.

Hi Rich

I believe it's Vredestein and I first heard of them about 15 years ago, I think they are a dutch copy of a goodyear or some other better known make.

I'll see what else I can find.

Certainly in Evo they are positioning themselves as a quality performmance tyre. I just thought it strange they have never been mentioned here, yet there are plenty of owners of performance cars, of all varieties, on P'Heads. Rich...

Hmmm ... I've used them before (and have them on the back of the Volvo at the moment - but only because I couldn't get anything else).

I don't like them ... the ones I've had have lasted a long time but haven't really impressed with dry grip. Seem to handle wet quite well though. Haven't tried them on anything higher performance than a 200SX Nissan though.
