Hi guys

Shamefully, I've been out of the bike scene for quite a while now cos of an old injury. Consequently I'm going to sell my bike as it never gets used nowadays. I've looked on eBay and there's none of them for sale or on completed listings, and the bike is a bit obscure with frankly, a marmite frame geometry. I never quite got on with it as I have short legs!

It's a Gary Fisher Cake 2 DLX which retailed for about 1700 or so in 2005 (I think).

Now, I was thinking of listing it at 400 or so and seeing what happens - does that sound about right or do 2nd hand bikes depreciate a lot what with new developments? I was also thinking of possibly breaking it as it's got some good kit on it.

Anyone got any opinions? Cheers!

Not worth owt - I'll give you a fiver to take it away and scrap it tho wink

Generally (if you can be bothered) you'll get more from breaking it and putting the parts on eBay.

I reckon you're £400 is not far off the mark for the complete bike. Like you say, they are a bit niche.

i would have thought its worth a punt at £500 and see what happens. second hand full sus bikes are still worth something as people want to try them out before shelling out big money on something new to see if they like the ride.

i personally dont think its worth stripping, four to five year old shocks would need recomissioning before any serious use and its was never the most popular full sus frame design. there are a lot of second hand components on the market these days and you can pick up xt/lx stuff fairly cheap new. if its stock, the bontrager bits arent worth that much on their own either unfortunately.

Cheers for your thoughts. I'm embarrassed to say it's got bugger all miles on it so the suspension components are reasonably mint. Most miles I have done have been road miles due to my leg injury. I'm not sure I can really be bothered stripping it though so I reckon I'll pop it on the bay at 500 then and see if it goes.

Good work! I've been trying to pick up a 'cheap' full suss rig for a while but they keep going for ridiculous money. Good for the sellers, not good for potential bargain hunters!
