Is www.rightmove.co.uk for estate agents only? There doesn't seem to be a 'Sell my House' button...

Hmm, there's obviously a gap in the market... surely there must be a house version of eBay or a consumer version of Rightmove?

Exchange and Mart?

I tried this using Houseladder, which advertises on quite a few of the smaller property websites (but not Rightmove which, as already mentioned, if for agents only).

Nice clean advert, good pictures and we had the grand total of 1 viewing as a result.

Got a couple of agents in and went with the one we felt would give us the best service. He told us he had 2 people looking for exactly this type of property to which I immediately though "yeah... right". House sold within a fortnight for full asking price asking having his two buyers he'd mentioned bidding against each other.

So, we wasted £100 on Houseladder (not a lot in the big scheme of moving, and worth it to see), but quickly got full asking proce for the cost of a couple of grand in agents fees.

I know it's unusual to praise an Estate Agent but, in my case, our guy was most definitely worth his fee, despite the minimal work he had to do in the end.
