Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced outfit with some Subaru experience near Milton Keynes to have a look at my UK Turbo?
It sprung a coolant leak which the local garage have identifed as the top hose and subsequently replaced. However they tell me that the cooling system is running at an unusually high pressure which they suspect may be a failed head gasket but can't be sure and no longer wish to continue with the job.
Thanks

You've got Zen Performance in Wellingborough http://www.zenperformance.co.uk/ , not cheap but will get the job done.

There is also Northants Subaru - http://www.northantssubaru.co.uk/. I've tried to get hold of this chap several times in the past but he seems to be rather elusive. Having left messages for him but not having had a return call i gave up although i do hear he is actually quite good.

Try Zen first.

He is good and I still have not had any problems getting in touch with Steve (based near Towcester).

Thanks guys, I dodn't have any problems getting in touch with the guy at Northants so I've taken it up there today and will wait to hear the news!

Chances are it's going to be a head gasket failure, given that the engine's going to have to come out to change the gasket I've established with him that it wouldn't be much different in cost to put a new lump in.

This has got me thinking about a Classic STi engine and turbo going in; if I were to do this would it matter which version STi the engine came out of and, apart from the long engine and turbo, would I need any other parts to do this?

You will need the ECU as well, the loom should be pretty similair as long as the engine is an Sti 5 or 6.

It's a '99 UK Turbo on a T plate.
