As title suggests, is it just me...

The last three time I have been out in the Cerb I seem to have attracted the attention of total imbeclies who insist on proving to themselves (or their passengers...or the rest of the world) that their motor can keep up with a sports car.

This seems to take the form of wheel spinning away from traffic lights, racing up behind me, cutting me up, etc - it mostly happens when I am simply cruising along or during the engine warm up phase. The best bit is what they are driving - the last two were Vectras! ...one was a tatty old golf GTi MKII...you know the score...

Its really annoying me!!!!! Its actually getting to the point where its stopping me enjoying the car - its like a magnet for tossers! It didnt happen with my Chim..?

Just wondering if this happens to any of you guys..?

Just to add - Don't mind people showing an interest in TVR's, or any car for that matter, its just that this is a most unwanted type of attention if you know what I mean...

Yeah - happens to me aswell biggrin I just ignore them because I know my car's faster, let them live in their dream world.
Funniest occasion was when I was crusing along at about 60 on a dual carriageway, relaxing, listening to music, and I suddenly became aware of a strange 'engine' noise, being a paranoid Cerb owner, i immediately shut the music off, and tried figuring out what the feck it could be, it was getting louder and louder, a strange kind of metallic buzzing, I lifted off the throttle and it got even louder, I was crapping myself and thinking the worst, then out of the corner of my eye, something grabbed my attention. It was some 16yr old pratt on a 125cc scooter thingy, crouched down over the bars, with his head level with mine and about a yard away from me, overtaking me at 60.001 mph, he was looking at me, I was looking at him, as he gradually inched past me for what seemed like friggin hours - quite amusing biggrin

It's the engine warming up period you always get them unfortunately.

You have to let them go.

I know a few bikers who have told me that they will always have a go with a TVR!

Best just to ignore it!

Many years ago my grandad (!) had a Mk1 MR2 - He had the same problem on the M25 -He ignored it and 2 miles down the road saw the bloke being breathalysed.

What goes around comes around!

I do generally ignore them and always when the engine is warming up....its just that some of them almost seem offended if you don't rise to them...on a couple of occassions I've just shook my head or gestured at them and that was even worse!

Like I say...did'nt happen with the Chim just wondering what it is about the Cerb?

Wonder if other marques have similar problems...

IMO the tossers you refer to, drive like that regardless of what you're driving. After they've left you, just watch them in the distance. They don't suddenly revert back to normal driving, they just continue in the manner that you've witnessed.

I see 'Div' driving, whether in the car or the van.

Just feel like having a go back occasionally in the car smile

Weird but I have found quite the opposite. Hardly ever had anyone have a pop at the Cerb in a couple of years of ownership, almost like they just know they will end up looking tits.

I've also had this. One that sticks in my mind was a lad in a Subaru effort right up behind me most likely showing off to his two mates how fast his car was. We stopped at a set of traffic lights and when we set off i remember thinking bloody hell it really is fast as he pulled away from all the other traffice like they were stood still. I kept watching him untill he was a dot in my rear view mirror and then i slowed down to let him catch up and pass me knowing i'd proven my point. However he refused to come near me even after i slowed it down to about 45!! I think he got my point. wink

Edited to add...... I've had far more people tell me how amazing my car is or give me the thumbs up and ask me to "REV IT UP FOR US!" smile

Warm the car up for 20 minutes on the driveway and then set off!

As pointed out above, i`d guess you have just come across some idiots driving 'normally' (To them at least). I`d try not to take it personally.

I`d provoke a TVR in either of the normal cars we have; not in a silly or dangerous manner, nor to annoy the owner, but for some aural pleasure for myself, followed by a thumbs up if they have not gone too far into the distance.

only had the cerb for 3 week now and i've had it happen to me twice.....

They seem to sit so close to my rear end i can see the colour of there tonsils while gorping at my rear end!!!..other week it was a red audi.. following me so close it was unreal... indicated to come off the main road coming from x works... turned down off and they followed... i waited till they got up my arse again ( which did'nt take long) and just pushed the loud pedal to the floor..... i thought the audi had stopped...lol... put a grin on my face......

I'm sure i'll have a few more bumper huggers from now!!!
